Operation Comfort believes in showing our wounded men and women that they are appreciated, valued and respected. Their focus is to provide rehabilitative therapeutic programs for them while they are recovering and assisting their families.

Mission Statement

Operation Comfort provides support to our Service Members who have been wounded in Afghanistan or Iraq and are receiving treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

What does Operation Comfort do for the Veteran Community

Operation Comfort has numerous programs in place for wounded veterans including sled hockey, hand cycling, amputee surfing, Automotivation – a program where they can work on cars, woodworking, outings and a family financial assistance program which helps the families get over the financial burden they encounter while taking care of their loved one.

Why Operation Comfort

Lindsay Ess has had a long career in event planning raising over $40,000 for several charities such as The American Cancer Society and the Richmond LGBT community. When she moved down to San Antonio, TX, she got the itch to start producing events again. Inspired by CrossFit competitions and discussions with her Team SAR (Some Assembly Required), The Arena Competition was born.
